I'm not sure this topic is a good fit for this forum, but
it seems to be the closest.
I downloaded and installed itunes just to have a
looksee. What mistake! Even though I unchecked all of
the file associations, I found that the program still
insinuated itself as the proprietary program for 9
different file extensions. Nor do they have, as far as I
can tell, a dialogue to change the associations. I
consider companies that do this with their software to be
just plain rude, and I will not use their product, so I
decided to uninstall it. Since they didn't have the
simple courtesy to provide that utility, I went to the
Add/Remove Programs and tried to remove the program
there. No luck - the InstallShield Wizard initializes,
but then disappears without ever getting to a dialog.
This has NEVER happened with any other uninstall.
I then went to itunes knowledge base, and tried their
alternative method using Computer Manager. It had no
effect. I then tried to find an email tech support, and
finally came upon a FAQ that states they are "unable to
provide tech support." Grrrr!!!
Then I tried the itunes forum, and got what only could be
considered totally goofy responses.
Does anyone how I can get rid of this %*!@#! thing?
