Unable to Update Defender

I've tried to update the data files in defender and it says that it is
updated but the Defender Window says that it hasn't been updated in 37 days.
I have the box in options checked that says UPDATE BEFORE SCHEDULED SCAN and
have tried to update Automatically and manually. Any answers? Thanks

Hello Don,

There is a new update: 1.14.1408.8, can you go a get it, and see if this new
Update fix your problem.
Go to Windows Update, do an Express scan, and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Other wise, use this KB 915101.
Error message after you reinstall Windows Defender Beta 2: “Windows
Defender definitions haven’t been updatedâ€
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=915105

I hope this post is helpful.
Let us know how it works ºut.

Unfortunately 1.14.1408.8 seems to be the problem - on both my PCs. This
is the first time EVER I have had a problem updating. None of the ideas
worked just now. I have tried
Updating via WD Help
The little yellow shield
Help and Support - updates
Control Panel
KB915105
....and I get the same message every time....except when I get no message at
all, but it still hasn't updated!

Hello AuntieKate,

Go to Start/run.
Copy and paste this whole line: ( with ")
"C:\Program_Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -RemoveDefinitions -All
then:
"C:\Program_Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate

Hello: I D/L a few updates on the 25th and one was the latest definitions for
Defender. After attempting several times and it failing, there was obviously
an issue. To cure it on my machines I un-installed Defender and re-installed
the progg. It took the new definitions fine and all appears to be fine. If
you need to take this action don't forget to reset your personal settings.
M$ where are you???? Need a fix...

Thank you, Tom.
By the time I read your response I had re-installed from the MS website,
then updated the definitions and it all worked extremely smoothly. However,
I have printed out your instructions for future use. Hope I don't need
them, though.

Hi Auntie,

glad you got it running now.

but there was a typo mistake in both lines!!
This are the right ones:

"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -RemoveDefinitions -All
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate
