Windows Defender Taskbar icon and update.

My windows defender has an icon in task bar which I know means it needs
attention. When I open defender beta 2 it says Defender has not been updated
in 53 days. I press update and defender icon says updated, but the dialog
still says defender has not been updated. The icon still remains in task bar.
I have manually updated 6 times, removed and reinstalled defender 2 times.
How do i fix this? Thanks.

Whether or not those are successful, go to Windows Update and see whether
Windows Defender definitions are offered--and if so, apply them.
