Here's what all i have done till now ..
=>Tried add/remove programs ->It says its already uninstalled. do you want
to remove its entry from add/remove. Clicked yes.
=>Downloaded symnrt.exe from norton website and tried to remove the registry
entries but before removing anything it says "The program has encountered a
problem and needs to close."
=>Deleted all the symantec and norton folders in program files.
=>Went back to norton tried the steps provided there ie dwonloaded the
symmsicleanup and msifix, ran them and then ran symnrt but no change in the
error.
=>Again norton said basic clean boot and complete clean boot but none of
them worked.

There is only one entry in msconfig that points to norton ie under services
which is symantec coreLC. I do not know which file do i need to delete to
remove that and would that help.

Any suggestions on what else i can try??
