Unable to send photos from "My Pictures"

Jerry Bogartz

Since i installed the latest Windows XP update Outlook
Express does not open automatically and send smaller
pictures I have highlighted when I select "email these
pictures". The prompt to make the selected pictures
smaller appears and a file transfer takes place but
Outlook Express no longer opens and I can't find the
reduced pictures anywhere. I can attach pictures and send
using Outlook Express but they are in the full size.
Anyone have a fix..thanks

I cannot guarantee it, but the following method may work:

How do I make OE my default mail client?

Go to...Start / Run...and enter the following:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg<
(copy paste everything between the > < but not including the > <)
(But first...Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure it is correct)

Click...OK...

Then open Internet Explorer and go to...Tools / Internet Options /
Programs tab...and set OE as the default mail (and news) program.

Good luck.

Since I installed the service pack 2, I am unable to send photos from "my
pictures". Get the resizing screen and then a "choose profile" screen appears
with Corel 8 Settings as the only choice. My yahoo email browser does not
open....the only way I can send photos now is by using attachments in the
large format.

John, I am having the same problem and have tried all of your solutions from
this and other posts. Is there anything else that I might try. Please help.
Thanks in advance.

You may find a solution if you post your

Click Start, Run and type the following commands one by one (exactly as
given below):

"%programfiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msoe.dll"

Post the error messages (if any)

I had the same problem - changed the default email to Outlook Express (used
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 link) and then clicked Start, Run
and typed in your 2nd command (regsvr32.......) only (first line didn't take)
and it worked!!! I can now again email the smaller pictures from "My
Pictures". I've been up all night!! - is 7:44 AM and I'm going to bed!!
THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi Ramesh,

I have the same problem - when I try to "email this picture" - the window
opens to make the photos smaller and it shows it as preparing to send but OE
does not open. I checked OE was the default client (which it always was), and
I tried your fix but it didn't work. After applying the second line of your
regedit I got the message that the change had succeeded. any more ideas?
Thanks

Incidentally, i forgot to add that i can still bring up to send an email from
a web browser by using "send this link" - it's just from any file on my
computer that it doesn't work

I had posted previously that I was also having trouble - my posts seem to
have disappeared. Anyhow my problem was fixed after i restarted the computer
;-)
