unable to open MSN Explorer or log into MSN Messenger

I awoke to the horror of being unable to open MSN Messenger or the MSN
Explorer browser. In the services window there is an error in Msngr and
something called Perfnet.It says ....Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.
I have tried to reload Messenger with no luck. any suggestions for me? I
would hate to have to Re-Boot!!!
I am also unable to open any MSN related things using the Internet Explorer.
I am able to open Hotmail using MozillaFirefox.....I appreciate your
time...Thanx from Scott in Vancouver.
