unable to open msn explorer and norton antivirus

I have Windows XP and Norton Antivirus 2003. I am unable
to open my MSN window - it won't sign in(and it won't
through Google or Internet Explorer either).I am unable
to open my antivirus through either the desktop or the
menu. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have Spybotted
and Ad Awared. Have change my security setting ( also
unable to get microsoft updates - says security settings
are too high).Have tried safe mode and that doesn't work
either. If you have any other ideas out there I would be
gratefull for your assistance.
