Best advice is to visit the Symantec Website and do a search there - plenty
of help on how to uninstall NAV dependent on which version of NAV you have.

This is not a Windows issue.

Howdy,

Others have suggested the Norton and Symantec removal tools,
but there is some bad news too:

I have run the tools but have struggled for quite a while to
remove all traces.

My efforts have included having a Symantec tech take over my
machine for about 30 minutes. Still we have no success.

Symantec products are notorious for these sorts of problems
(which, ironically, is the reason I removed the Dell
installed Symantec products on a new laptop...)

Good luck with it,

You need to go to the symantec.com website, support section. Armed with the
version of NAV or NIS you're talking about. This is located under the
"help" menu of NAV or NIS if you don't know positively.
You can probably do it unassisted as long as you printout the instructions
and download any pertinent files the instructions tell you to run.
If all else fails, clean install XP.

Howdy,

Others have suggested the removal tools that Symantec makes
available, and indeed they may work for you, but they do not
always.

I have run the three tools that Symantec Support suggested
to me, but still I had scores of Norton and Symantec entries
in the XP registry. After removing all of those manually, I
still have Norton Internet Worm Protection showing up as ON
in my XP Security Center.

Symantec products are rather like athletes foot... You can
treat it, but you never really get rid of it.

I hope that you have better luck than I,

Hello again,

I regret that I have not responded sooner, but the tools you suggested
above are the very tools that failed to solve my problem.

I have run them, but XP Security Center still tells me that "Norton
Internet Worm Protection" is ON.

Thanks for any further thoughts,

Kenneth
