Unable to copy music from CDs

I'm trying to use Windows Media Player 9 to Copy songs
from CDs to my hard drive. I set up the options for
copying to WMAs to set the bitrate to 192kb and selected
the songs I wanted to copy in the "Copy from CD" tab. When
I clicked "Copy Music", it showed the copy status and then
said "Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error".
Anybody know why this could be happening?

Personnally I don't use WMP excespt to play CD's of videos. Its not reliable
enough. Use a 3rd party dedicated ripper (CDex or AudioGrabber - a little
trip to Google will find you the websites).

Both these software can rip CD's and convert to mp3's or rip direct into
mp3's. I seem to remember CDex is freeware, may be wrong.

Cheers,
Jerry

I appreciate the opinion. The reason I was trying to use
WMP's encoder was because it encodes at a higher quality
than the one I'm currently using. the limit on mine is
128k.
