I can't imagine that happening to each and every song.
I should think that somehow the properties ("sample rate"?) of some songs
have been changed.

1) Check this (like by finding songs that still play correctly).

2) The easiest way of restoring would be: copying these songs from your
iPod, or downloading them again.

3) A slightly more elaborat way would be: changing their speeds in software
like Audacity (freeware, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).

4) Note that Windows Media Player provides a slider (Play | Play_Speed) for
playing back at custom speeds. In Real Player, search the Help for "Speed",
the topic about hardware compatibility.

5) You may have some Speed effect installed (like in the DirectX subsystem
of Windows), or (if possible) adjusted the audio hardware of your laptop in
such a way.

Hope some of this helps. :)

You might want to try Zach's page but I'm not sure why it'd be effecting
iTunes.

As far as I'm aware, iTunes (and QuickTime) use Dsound too, although you can
get them to use waveOut. So fixing the DSound issue for WMP should fix it
for iTunes. If it's not possible to fix but only to work-around, then all
the players would need to be modified to stop using waveOut. =\

*grins* I was initially just going to blame it on iTunes but then I figured
I'd play nice and send 'em to your site. ;-) Hopefully that gets them
squared away.
