The proper homepage appears when IE is started and I can access sites on my favorites list. I can also access links from these sites but I can't successfully submit forms or reach a new web address if I type it in...a time out occurs if I attempt to submit a form and if I type in a new web address the error message "cannot find www.xxx. Make sure the path or internet address is correct." appears. Essentially I'm limited to my home page and favorite sites. AOL seems to work normally. I'v run a variety of spy and ad identifying programs. Please help!

Hi Rich :)
The proper homepage appears when IE is started and I can access sites
on my favorites list. I can also access links from these sites but I
can't successfully submit forms or reach a new web address if I type
it in...a time out occurs if I attempt to submit a form and if I type
in a new web address the error message "cannot find www.xxx. Make
sure the path or internet address is correct." appears. Essentially
I'm limited to my home page and favorite sites. AOL seems to work
normally. I'v run a variety of spy and ad identifying programs.
Please help!

First, download, install and run the CWShredder to be sure there are no
lingering scumware on your system.

Then try the following:

To Restore Address Search Functions

Restore default Search functions:

In order to restore you default Search functions, download and run the
program below. You will have to redo any customized features you may have
added afterward.

This will restore the Windows defaults for a whole lot of Search related
registry entries.

CAUTION: BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST!

Close IE, copy the bold to Notepad, save as Search.reg (save as 'all files',
and doubleclick. Answer 'yes' when prompted to add the contents of
Search.reg to the Registry:
