Home Page and Favorites Connect to Web Sites; Nothing Works in Add

Any of you ever have this problem with IE?

1. NO URL placed in the Address line works. You enter the address (Like
www.google.com) and the Microsoft Icon in the upper right hand corner spins;
but the page never loads. You never get an error message and the current
page stays active. The session does not hang... It's as if entering an
address means spin the icon.
2. The only Web Sites you can get to are those that have been entered as
the Home Page, Those on the Favorites list, and those that can be accessed
from the Home Page or Favorites list. In other words everything works fine,
except for typing an address in the address line. If I want to Web Surf, I
have to enter the address I want in the Home Page field and then press the
home Icon.
3. This problem just started Happening Thursday night. I am Fairly sure
this problem started happening After the new Microsoft security patches were
applied; but, I can't be sure.
4. I am running Windows XP SP2 and IE 6.0

I Appreciate your help!

I have the same issue. After the update also. I also have an additional
problem. IE does the same thing as in your #1, when I click on the drop down
list to select another website.

I'm running same apps as you are. Win XP, IE 6.0

Thank you for your response. That looks like excellent advise. What is the
best way to remove KB908531?

Thanks!

It looks like uninstall of 908531 is not necessary. If you do need to
uninstall it, go to add/remove programs in the control panel, check the box
near the top for 'show updates' and then scroll down and find the update.
Hightlight it and click remove. Reboot when finished.

Thanks everyone for your input. After posting this I was able to find the
thread listed below in another post. I followed it and it worked fine.
