To read Japanese Language

I'd like to install Japanese files on my computer to read and type in Japanese
, but everytime I try, it requires to insert "Windows XP Home edition
CD-ROM" which didn't come with this computer.
I had tried through control panel - add language, and thruogh the web.
I rang the technical support of Toshiba and she just said that it supposed
not to require the CD-ROM, which obviously didn't help me at all.

It would be greaty appreciated if some one could help me.

Good Questions All.

I just installed the Japanese Language capabilities on this computer, which
is using Windows XP Professional SP2, and all the files I needed were
already on the hard drive.

I was not requested to insert the CD, which I do have.

Thank you for writing.

Yes that what a lady from technical support center of Toshiba told me.
It shoudn't require CD-ROM to be inserted as everything has been already
installed, but this computer asked me to insert a "Windows XP Home Edition
CD- ROM".
Only one thing came with this computer was Recovery DVD-ROM which was
oviously not the same as CD-ROM this computer asked me to insert.

So it would be grateful f some one could help me.
Thank you.

you should have an i386 folder on your computer, point the installer to that
folder and it will find what you need.

That sounds smart.

The Asian Characters for Chinese, Japanese and Korean were on my hard
disk -- so was the IME.

I'd also insist on a Windows XP CD from the people who sold you the
computer, even if you have to pay for it.
