The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server.

Hi,

I am currently having problems sending emails in Outlook 2003. This was
previously working fine and nothing should have changed in the setting
but now I can only receive emails. When sending I get the error
message: "The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem
continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service
provider (ISP)."

To try and fix this I increased the timeout limit to 2 minutes which
didn't work and when trying to send a test email message through the
email account settings it came up with this error:
"The specified server was found, but there was no response from the
server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct."

I have 5 email accounts which comes from two different servers and they
all have the same problem so it seems likely that the problem is my end
somehow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Do you have a virusscanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable this
integration and try again.

I assume you are the (MVP) Who has all the answers?

When I updated my Excel my Office 2003 was updated and Outlook Express was
replaced with Outlook. All of my Address were lost, all of my folders which
I had in Outlook Express were lost and now I must reestablish the folders,
and my address book.

I am using Windows XP and Office 2003 and to me this does not seem necessary
for this question as it makes little differance weather i am using 2000, ME
or any of the rest of the preasently used Windows products or Office.

Well not all, but I do what I can! ;-)

It is best that you create your own theat for your own issues to keep the
discussions on topic. You had created one already and I suggest you continue
there.

Anyway, now that we are here;
Installing Office doesn't replace Outlook Express. These are separate
programs and can run side by side with different configurations. Installing
Microsoft Office Outlook doesn't affect your current data in Outlook Express
in any way.

If you don't want to use Outlook at all you can uninstall it via the Office
setup. Another way to go would be to leave it installed and simply ignore it
as you can still use Outlook Express by starting it through Start-> All
Programs or your own shortcut.

Thanks for your help, I use Norton AntiSpam and have disabled this but
it is still doing the same, all of the other tests are passed when
sending the message it is just the final sending that's the problem.

Do you have any other ideas about what could be causing this?
