Sorry to cross post but I wanted to make sure this got out there to
everyone.
I am not a big presence in the groups but I have been using them for years.
As I am sure others can agree these groups are a wealth of information and
support for budding Access developers. Before starting as an Access
developer I had no programming background at all, only 3 years of PC support
experience. Without these groups, and the support sites of several or the
major contributors, I would not be where I am today. Over the last year I
have finally gotten to the point where I can contribute to the group. For
some time now, when I post a question I try to answer a half dozen or more
other posts that are within my knowledge base.
Now I am about to release to the public my first commercial application. I
found a market nitch that I was able to exploit and hopefully have done so
to the fullest. I started my app, Stamper's Sidekick
(http://www.stamperssidekick.com), about 16 months ago for my wife who had
become a demonstrator for Stampin' Up! (http://www.stampinup.com). It
blossomed from there. The time to market was probably much longer than it
would have been for some of the top developers here, but with my level of
experience, my full time job and my family I am pleased with the time it
took. This is especially true given that I was able to do this project
without taking significant time away from my family
I chose not to name names because I didn't want forget anyone. But if you
need any help figuring out who these people are just read the posts. It will
not take long to notice who contributes the most with the most accurate and
useful advice. Hopefully with my new found experience and a bit more time on
my hands I will be able to contribute a tenth of what all they have.
