After working on a complicated database for six months with way not enough
experience (as many do) i must extend a wholehearted thanks to everybody here
who has lent me their time and brains to finally finish it.

my boss loves it and the office girls are now busy trying to break it (good
grief!)

Thanks again

Well done, Deb!

Sounds like you persisted through the struggles, and got a working result.

Good to know these groups helped you to get there. That's the outcome we
hope for as we post.

No doubt you will be asked to do more -- either with other databases or by
extending this one. All the best.

Excellent.

That's their job. <smile> Seriously. One of our sayings is "As
soon as you idiot proof your application a smarter idiot comes along."
Or something like that.

But the important part is that business rules are now incorporated in
the app and as you make improvements it'll only get better. And folks
new to the job can get meaningful error messages when they make a
mistake rather than letting bad data promulgate through the
organization.
