Text box shadow won't turn off

When I create a new text box, it shows up with a shadow -
looks like two letters on top of each other. I've looked
everywhere to see how to turn it off. Help!

Text shadows can be created two ways, check that each is turned off:
1. Using the "S" button on the toolbar. This activates a grey drop shadow on
text. Select text, if this shadow setting is turned on the button will
appear 'depressed.'
2. Using the shadow toolbar. This shadow can be applied to text or objects.
Select the text, or text box and turn off shadows. To find shadow toolbar,
go to TOOLS >> CUSTOMIZE >> TOOLBARS tab >> check SHADOW SETTINGS >> close
menu.
