default shadow

A co-worker sent me a presentation that she's having trouble with. For some
reason, shadow is the default for all text boxes and autoshapes.

I made sure that shadow was not selected as the default in the Font dialog
box, and that it was turned off in the drawing toolbar. Yet it still comes
up every time I draw a text box or a shape. I can turn it off, once it is
drawn. But I do not want to continuously have to turn off the shadow effect
for each thing.

Create a shape object and remove the shadow. Then right right click it and
select "Set autoshape defaults".

What about for text boxes? The concern has been mostly for text boxes, and I
can't do what you suggest for those. (Thanks for the suggestion anyway.)

It should take care of the text boxes at the same time. Does it not work for
you? What version of PowerPoint are you using?

It resets the default for new objects. It is not retroactive and will have no
effect on existing objects.
