for some reason any table i now make has the following
properties disabled: Light border, Dark border, and Use

Check your Tools Page Options Compatibility / Authoring
- CSS must be turned on and browsers must be level 4 or higher (level 5 in FP2003)

the compatibility seems screwed up - which is what lets different browsers
dispaly the pages correctly - some features are disabled because the browsers
don't support them.
for example if the compatibility is set to "netscape only" you can't use the
'bgsound' because it is an I.E. only feature.

under tools >> page options (or equivalent for your version of FP).
