System Restore

When I use System Restore, and my computer reboots, I get
the message "Restoration Incomplete"
"Your computer cannot be restored to Tuesday Aug 26, 2003
system Checkpoint. No changes have been made to your
computer". I have tried several system restore
checkpoints going back to August 13, 2003 and get the
same message everytime.
How can I get System Restore to work?

Sounds like there is no reason for a restore, why are you attempting the
restore? We may be able to help the problem.

It is in relation to the other question I posed. When I
try to open ULead's Photo Impact 8, I get a window
stating:
"DDE ServerWindow: Iedit-Application Error"

The instruction at "0x77f58267", referenced memory
at "0x0000bdc8". The memory could not be "read.". Click
Ok to terminate the program."

This happens again and again with some different numbers
in the quotes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the PI
8, but it doesn't help. I am also having the system
restore problem, so I can't go back to a previous time.

I don't have Norton's Personal Firewall, but I do run
System Works. I also have the Firewall enabled on
Internet Explorer.
