System Restore Dosen't Work

O

old volunteer

When I run System Restore I get the error message: "Restoration incomplete,
computer cannot be restored to...."

I went into "System" in Control Panel and unchecked Restore and rebooted to
get rid of old files. I set a restore point to "test" and tried it an hour
later and got the same message. Any suggestions?

This is probably farfetched, but you might try to undo last restoration and
then start again.

I had identical Problem..you must temporarily turn off NORTON...then your
restore will work...(I assume you have Norton)...if you need help further,
let me know!

There are many issues associated with system restore point failure. No
point in blameing the norton alone.User computer might have
virus/malware/spyware/parasite/adware or some thing like that.Tell us
about ur real problem with windows xp.Some of us can suggest alternative
solution other than system restore

We can close this one. We solved it by deleting Norton from the system as
was suggested here. Restore now works fine. Norton was the problem. We
installed AVG instead for antivirus and turn on the IE firewall. IMHO Norton
needs to get their act together.

Glad your problem is resolved. You're better off without Norton. Thanks
for reporting the outcome.
