System Restore not restoring

When trying to restore my computer to an earlier date, I receive a message
after the computer restarts saying "Restoration Incomplete" "Your computer
could not be restored to...........check point. This happens quite often. Is
there a fix for this? I've tried going to My Computer-Properties-System
Restore Tab and checking "Turn off System Restore on all Drives," reboot the
computer, and go back and uncheck "Turn Off System Restore on all drives",
which wipes out all of my earlier restore points. When I do accumulate some
restore points, I continue on having the same problem of not being able to
restore to them. Any ideas out there on what's go on and how to fix this?

There is a known issue with this regarding Symantec's Norton System
Works 2006. If you have that program, read on. If not, sorry I
coudn't have been of more help:

Find within the main System Works window "Symantec Resource Protection".
If it is checked (it probably is) uncheck it and *leave it off* (you'll
never miss it). The remove all extant SysRestore files one more time,
then turn SysRestore back on. That will fix the problem.
