System extremely slow after stand by or hibernate

All I have really changed lately was to install service
pack 2 on Win XP Home...

Now, after a stand by (or hibernate) my pc is extremely
slow... it takes my pc more than 30 minutes to close 3
programs and even then I have to switch it off manually -
after a reboot everything seems fine again... until a
stand by...

HELP please...
