That is absolutely the key to why I continue to use Windows.

I would switch in an instant if there was another OS that could run the
software I have.

What software is that?

Twit yourself. I run XP, Vista, and Kubuntu. I don't slag off Vista in a
Vista group, I don't slag off Kubuntu in a Kubuntu group, and I don't slag
off XP in an XP group.
Why should I listen to idiots who do?

Is "slag off" a technical term or are you simply demonstrating your
limited mental capacity and are totally incapable of giving FACTS why
it makes sense to stumble along using Vista?

It's very difficult to learn, but you can press the ALT key to display those
very same menus. You can also make them appear permanently by going to
Organize/Layout and placing a check mark in Menu Bar.

Its a very conservative guess. The fact is most people hate Windows
and they have good reasons to. Its like going to the Dentist. You
don't go because you like somebody poking around in your mouth with
sharp objects, you go to prevent worse things. People only use Windows
because THEY HAVE TO, not because they want to.

You don't have to. Noone is putting a gun to you head to make you do
it. Just don't click on their posts to read them.

paraphrasing Pauline Kael's ... "nobody I know voted for Windows .... "

well my take is a bit different .. its more like using the trusty old
liberal protest calculator.
you punch in the three dorks in a vacant lot yelling and and switching off
signs and
bandanas (while CNN is zooming in for a closeup) and multiply by the 'what I
wish it was' operator and come up with 300,000 ;)
Good, solid logic ;) Wikipedia science .. making up stuff and believe it

why do you feel that number is out of line?
just last summer MS was claiming Vista sales had hit 60 million.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,135158-c,vistalonghorn/article.html

if you're looking for "whoppers" just pay a little more attention to MS's
claims...

Microsoft PR is busy telling us how popular Vista is, but the real numbers
are being cloaked by comparisons and false benchmarks. The real number can
be read off the MS activation servers and by looking at web stats on major
destination sites. Those figures show less penetration than you might think.

Industry watchers are aware that contracted OEM licenses into the channel do
not accurately reflect delivered units.
Many shoppers are specifying Win XP as the preferred OS. Dell has been
surprised at the interest in their pre-installed Linux machines.

One hidden number is the number of "downgrade" licenses being used in
Enterprise and SA shops. Microsoft allows certain volume customers to
receive a Vista machine and re-image it with XP. They submit the Vista
activation key to MS and receive a valid XP key in return. However, the
transaction as booked as a Vista license.
