Stuck with nasty theme on a web and don't know how to get rid of i

Hi!

I've never used themes before. I create templates and stylesheets to
control the look of my pages. Recently, I was given a redesign job and every
time I or anyone opens a new page on this particular web, the horrifyingly
bad old theme is automatically embedded.

I can see the javascript that controls it and deletion of that clears that
particular page but...

HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP??? :) It's truly an awful design with frightening
colors and no one's eyes need that much abuse.

Thanks for any help!

I believe it is a customized version of one. Could you tell me how to find
out?

This is the code that shows up:

<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="theme 1000, default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb, default">

and a long javascript with imageswap stuff then

<body onload="FP_preloadImgs<'lots and lots of urls to imgs')">

If you go to Format > Theme, you should have a choice of NO THEME on the
selections. Try attaching that to that one page and see if it gets rid of
all that stuff.

It looks like it also uses shared borders, which can get pretty ugly....

I'm sorry for the delayed reply, Windsun. I do appreciate your help!

Sadly, I have tried this a whole bunch o' times but it has not worked. And
today, just for fun, I got this message back when I tried the 'apply as
default theme to site' choice:

500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the
server administrator, (e-mail address removed) and inform them of the time the error
occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.cps.unt.edu Port 80

It seems this is very deeply messed up. I'm almost considering finding an
'anti-theme' script that nukes the theme after it's applied. Ah, desparation!

Thank you for any more ideas!

Are you trying to apply the theme on the server, or on your local computer?
Should be done locally and then published.

But it is also possible that the FP extensions on the server might be messed
up, or there is some other server problem.

A 500 error is usually permissions related
- contact your host for the server log details

Thanks, Windsun and Stefan. At first I applied it to a single page and
nothing happened. The horrid nastiness was firmly embedded. Then I tried
the 'apply to entire site' choice and got that 500 error.

I was replying at length and then remember your mention of borders. So I
started poking around and deleting various folders (_borders, etc.) and
finally all the images went away but a layout was still applied. Then the
light shone and I found the magic button to make shared borders go away.
Because of the version changes, Shared Borders was not a menu choice. But it
is now!

Thank you both for your help in clearing out the cobwebs!!! (and that
eye-bending theme)
