After a relative installed software for a new HP all-in-one printer on an
older HP 7915 PC with WinXP Home the following error occurs every reboot:
A screen pops up stating to insert MS Money 2001 CD. They do not have the
CD. You cannot cancel out of the screen , attempts lead to lockup. The only
option is to wait a few minutes and Cntr-Alt-Del to get to task manager and
kill the windows installer app.
Trying to uninstall MS Money 2001 from Add/Remove programs also prompts for
the CD.
Is there any safe way to get out of this loop? Is a system roll back likely
to solve this. Unfortunately this particular model had a compatibility
problem with system restore that took a patch to fix. I doubt this patch was
ever installed so system restore is a problematic option. This is a primary
PC so low risk to data loss options preferred.
I have never seen any error quite like this after installing software.
