Hello,

I deleted Windows Messenger and installed MSN Messenger 6.1. everything
workes except that the contacts of MSN are not shown in Outlook Express
as it was the case in Windows 98.
I investigated a bit in the registry and saw this:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FB7199AB-79BF-11d2-8D94-0000F875C541}
This class ID had a value App Id with the value
{AB1D8565-40E9-4616-984D-98465687E82C}.
Under InProcServer32 there was
C:\program files\Messenger\msgsc.dll.

I thought I could perhaps solve the problem by changing it to MSN
Messenger's location where that DLL is located. I also the path in
LocalServer32.
But now Outlook Express only needs more time to start.
Is there ANY possibility to show MSN Messenger's contacts in Outlook
Express as it worked in Win 98?
Somehow it has to be possible...

Thank you,
Jens

Greetings Jens,

Unfortunately you can't just change this registry entry to make it use MSN Messenger
instead -- MSN Messenger 6 does not integrate with Outlook Express on Windows XP.
To solve the "slow down" and to prevent Windows Messenger from starting with Outlook Express
(assuming you undo the registry change), simply close Outlook Express, then download and run
this .reg file:
