Starting Windows Problem

B

Brett Petersel

I have been receiving an error message that will not
allow Windows to finish loading upon startup. The error
message is as follows:

-
STOP: C0000135 (unable to locate DLL)
The dynamic link library winsrv could not be found in the
specified path. Default Load Path
-

When I turn on the computer (Dell Optiplex GX200), the
Dell screen appears. Then, the Windows 2000 Professional
(running on NT Technology) screen appears. As that
finishes loading or starting up, then the blue screen
with the above error message appears. Finally, the
computer restarts itself and does the same thing over and
over again. Now, I do not have the Windows CD-Rom but I
would like to know how I can fix this problem. I do not
understand the KNowledge Base information regardings
using a parallel system, etc. I can be reach on email at
(e-mail address removed). Any help would be much
appreciated.

Can you start up in Safe Mode? See anything in the event logs that looks
relevant?
I think you may need your CD to fix this - and you really should have it
anyway just for emergencies.
