I have not been able to install SP2 since having computer problems so
continue to operate with SP1. Now, support is soon no longer available for
SP1. What problems will that create for me? Am I able to continue
operating with SP1? Thanks for any info....

Hi

What problems have you got with installing SP2? A few more details may help
us. You do really need to upgrade to SP2 ASAP.

I haven't tried to install for quite some time but I tried several times in
the past. Can't remember the exact problem(s) but had to go into Safe Mode
and return to a restore point. Caused lots of trouble and expense to get
back in operating condition so I decided to leave in SP1 and forego the
attempt to install SP2. Now, I am afraid to try AGAIN to reinstall because
of all the past attempts just creating problems. What will happen if I just
leave SP1?

What problems?
Less secure as some updates may not be available without SP-2 already
installed.
Less product availability:
Such as Windows Defender from Microsoft as well as a growing list in and out
of Microsoft.

There is no way to guarantee there will be no problems when anything
especially something the size of a Service Pack is installed.

But, you can prepare and help make sure your computer is ready for the
Service Pack:

If you have problems and you post details, it is probable someone will be
able to give a solution.

I printed out and followed all the instructions. Used the SP2 CD to
install. All seemed to be going well throughout the installation of SP2.
At finish, the screen with message that "Windows did not start successfully"
appeared with the choices including highlighted "Start Windows Normally".
At that point, it continued to come back to that screen each time. Finally,
I went into Safe Mode and back to a restore point. Any more
suggestions....?? Thanks for any help.
