SP2 and Automatic Updates question

I have a desktop PC running XP Home SP1, and connect to the Internet
via a cable modem. Automatic Updates is turned on.

From what I've read, SP2 will be available via Automatic Updates
beginning on Monday, August 16th. I will be away from my computer most of
that day. If the computer is left on, and AU downloads SP2 on Monday, a
small window should pop up saying critical updates are ready to install.
Will that notification window stay there until I either click OK or cancel?
If it disappears before I get home, is there a way to check and find out if
there has been any activity with AU?

The easiest way is to visit the Windows Update site later and see if
the SP is listed here. If so, it has still to be installed on your
computer and you can also start the download from here.

You should be able to access the update notice any time after the SP update
has been downloaded to your computer. I do not believe that this patch will
be accessible thru Windows Update site for a couple of weeks. Thus, going
to Windows Update will not do you any good at the present time. I have
automatic updates configured to download automatically but not to install
until I am ready to do so. In that way, I can exit all running programs
(such as antivirus) prior to commencing the installation.
