SP-3 update

I have a Toshiba P-25 Sattelite laptop with an Intel Pentium 4 processor,
2.0GHZ, I tried to update the SP-3 but half way through I got this blue
screen saying Microsoft shut down due to an error and shut down to prevent
damage, I tried to do the update 3 times but with the same blue screen. I
have a desktop that was built in Jan. with an Intel dual pentium processor
and I had no problem installing the SP-3 update, I was told by a computer
tech that SP-3 was having a problem with the Intel chip, I don't understand.
why would it work on one computer and not the the other.

Both have Windows XP-Pro with SP-2, I updated the desktop.

Try a diffrent SP3,get it

Also,make sure all youre hardware is up to date with intel,check out the
downloads for youre pc chipset & proccesor.

Everything is up to date, I made a copy from my desktop on the main computer
after I installed it there, do you think it would work if I used the CD copy
to download to the laptop ???

I tried everything suggested but the SP-3 still will not install, half way
through I still get the blue screen with the error msg on it, I have no idea
why it will not install on the laptop but it did install on the desktop, the
laptop is 3 yrs old and the desktop was built professionally in Jan. 08.
