Sound Recorder sndrec32.exe question

Is there a way of extending the recording time on the Sound Recorder program
contained in Entertainment Group, sndrec32.exe? I am trying to record radio
programs of up to 30 minutes in length, which are not available as podcasts.
The default setting is one minute and there appears to be no way of altering
this. Is Sound Recorder merely a demonstrator, showing what is possible with
more sophisticated software, or have I missed some way of adjusting the
recorded time period?

Applies to WinXP as well:
"How to Increase the Maximum Recording Time in the Sound Recorder
Utility" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/82215/en-us

You might be better off when using a third-party Audio Recorder.

Record a blank 60 second segment, save it, and then re-insert it to
extend the recording length.

Many thanks for these messages. The obvious way round this problem is to use
3rd party software, as you have suggested. The instructions given in the
Microsoft support web page are too much of a rogmarole to be worth
attempting. I was trying to help an inexperienced user who has no such
software on her system.

Audacity is one of them.
