Sound card message

This problem just began to appear. When XP Pro starts up, I get the following message: "The sound card in the system is not properly installed. Reinstall the sound card and try again."

I am getting sound fine and I have unistalled/reinstalled my Creative SB Audigy driver.

Any idea why I'm getting this message and how to get rid of it?

And the folks at Creative have said what?

Your system is perhaps unhappy with the currently installed drivers ?
Perhaps a file is damaged or missing - so reinstall them.

Make sure that your anti-virus software is disabled / not loaded when you
uninstall, and then reinstall your soundcard drivers. Anti-virus software
can sometimes interfere with software installation.

Another little thing to bear in mind is that if your motherboard has an
'onboard' sound chip on it, and you also have a sound PCI expansion card
plugged into your motherboard, the 'onboard' sound chip must be switched off
in bios.

Do you have an onboard sound card built into your motherboard? Is it
turned off?
