Sound Card Error after Microsoft Update

After running MS Update and installing the reccommended update for my sound
card (Creative SB Audigy LS), the start up and shut down Windows default
sounds and sounds in Yahoo Messenger disabled. An error message appears that
the sound card is in use or in use by another program. In the Add/Remove
window there is no MS update for the sound card. How do I coorect this
problem without using System Restore, which most likely wouldn't work anyway?
Thank you for your suggestions.

Access the details box on the Audio card from within Device Manager.
Click Start, Run (Type) DevMgmt.Msc [Enter]
Click the Drivers (TAB)
Click the button "Roll Back Driver"

Hello R. McCarty. Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions to
get to the Device Manager, but could not find the Drivers Tab. So, I went to
the Control Panel and clicked on the "Sound and Audio Devices" icon. I
clicked on the
"Audio" tab. There i found that Windows had changed the default to Line
Modem. When I clicked on the drop down menu and changed the default device to
SB Live 24 bit in both playback and recording, the sound card worked
correctly. For some reason, i hadn't thought of this before. I should have as
Skype makes similar unwanted changes to audio device used.
