Sorting Photos w/ windows explorer

I used windows explorer to sort about 1000 photos to develop a slide show.
However, I can't get explorer to keep the sorted order. If I try to copy the
sorted file, the photos are placed in the original order. How can I get the
sorted file to keep the new order and be able to copy the file to other media
with the new order?

Number the sorted files.

This can be done in a batch...go to...Edit / Select
All...and right click the first picture in the series...
choose...Rename...

Type... anyname (1001).jpg

Click...Enter...and Windows will number the rest.
