my wife and I share photos with friends and sometimes others. before shaing
the photos I sometimes blur out our faces or other things.

my question when I open a folder and view them in Explorer it appears that
the blurring I have done is now there, but when I click on it and view it
with lets say Photoshop it does.

what does Windows Explorer use to view the image file/jpeg, to create the
thumbnail in does when looking at them?

I hope I made that clear.

Michael so what your saying is the thumbnail I see when browsing our photos
when I use Windows Explorer is not the same image as the one I burred? if so
is there any other software than can view the thumbnail like Photoshop were
others will be able to see the unblurred version of the image?

I don't know the answer. I concentrate on recovering photos from
media which is why I know there are in effect two images.

It would appear that any editing is not updating the original
thumbnail - or it is possib le that your Windows vrowser has made a
thumbnails file which is not updated.

Try and take the photos a new PC and see if your editing is part of
the thumbnail.

I haven´t quite understood what you opened where and wich picture is blured
and wich isn´t - but anyway. Maybe I can help you with the thumbs in the
Win-Explorer. Open the folder and select folder options. Now I´m sorry - I
use an system in german language, so maybe some things have a slightly
different name. But there should be something like "look" or "appearance".
there should find something like "hide protected system-files(recommendet)."
Deactivate it and close the options-Window with the "ok"-button. Now you
should find a file within the folder named "thumbs.db". That is a data-base
were windows saves the preview thumbnails. It is absolutely save to delete
this file. Do so. Windows will automaticly create a new version of this file
when you open the folder next time. And to do that it will use the pictures
as they are at the moment you open the folder. So the thumbs will show the
Pictures as they actually are.
