Small Home Network on two PCs

Guest

I have two Pcs.One in my room (running winxp pro) and the other one is in the
living room(winxp Home edition(New PC)).I used this home edition version as
the Host computer on my Network.I used crossover cable to connect the Pcs
together.
On the Guest computer I can see the two PCs in my network places ,but I can
view the content of the host computer. On the Host computer I can't see any of
the Pcs.When I clicked my Network place it is blank.
One thing is that I can share the internet connection but not the prniter
and other hardwares with the Quest computer.
It dispalyed an error message each time i tried to access the shared
folders on my host computer "access denied you might not have permission to
use thisnetwork resourse.Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access"

There are many possible reasons for asymmetrical displays like yours.
Misconfigured / overlooked firewalls:

Registry setting restrictanonymous:

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, and we'll diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

Since you can see both computer on the host computer, I would check the permission first. Since the guest can't seen any thing, it could be computer browser issue, but I would check firewall first and make sure no firewall blocking the LAN traffic. this step by step troubleshooting may help,
