service pack 4 update wrecked my computer

I see several people are experiencing the same problems
with service pack 4 update for Win 2000. After I
completed the download, the computer simply does a
continuous reboot. The windows logo comes up, then it
shuts down, and begins again. Does anyone have a
suggestion how I can get past this and maybe remove the
service pack? It won't even boot into safe mode.
