Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 Install

It seems that a lot of Microsoft customers are having
problems with their computers after installing the latest
update, Service Pack 4.

I am one of these customers, after installing Service Pack
4 for Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional my computer
seems to slow down and when using Microsoft Internet
Explorer 6.0 it seems to take forever to from one site to
another, even with a DSL connection.

Does anyone have some possible solutions to this situation?

When I uninstall Service Pack 4 the computer runs fine.

Sincerely,
Rich

Hi Rich

The following Fix for that Problem has been posted by Ed Sweeney in this NG
previously:

"Change the value from 1 to 0(zero) in this registry item:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\
Parameters\Tcpip1323Oopts

Right-click on the value and change the number from 1 to
zero. Reboot and surf away!

I decided not to backup my files before applying the
service pack....thought I was S-O-L.

My internet is back to blazing again...Yippee!

** ALL warnigs regarding changing registry values apply **
ALWAYS backup your registry before applying any changes.
Enjoy!"

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
