Sending mails

Within the last day or two whenever I send a mail it is going into my outbox.
I am receiving mails without problems. When I do a test of the account, I
get a message that connection to the sending server is being interrupted.
Any suggestions that may be causing this problem? I am using Outlook 2007

IS antivirus email integration enabled? If it is then disable it.
What other add-ins are installed?

I use BitDefender antivirus. It is set to scan incoming mails but not
outgoing. No other addin I have. The problem may not be in Outlook because
I just installed eudora to try and see if I will encounter the same problem
and I did. I will run a scan for antiovirus and see if that helps.

It's likely the mail server or a connecting router.
