Search-Company Pop Up

Google is my search vehicle. For reasons unknow to me,
now when I use it a pop-up appears a couple seconds later
that superimposes itself on my screen. Its address seems
to be "search-company.com". It contains nothing but
commerical web sites vaguely related to my search request.

I've used the two popular spyware programs to rid it
without success.

Any ideas? Thanks

Lyn

Did you update them first? They need to be updated before every use.
Go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save
Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere.

NOTE: Most of what Hijack This lists will be harmless, or even required, so
do NOT fix anything
yet.

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the Browser Hijacking/Spyware Removal section, press "new
topic", explain your
problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get
expert assistance in
dealing with your problem, and I can assure you that you'll be rid of it in
no time at all.

Frank Saudners -

Words are inadequate, thank you. I followed your advice,
which led me to the forum in which just reading the
problems and solutions, and trying one of the software
fixes, fixed my problem.

Just before this happened and without thinking, I
answered a routine question via email from a company with
whom I have a relation, only later realizing the message
was bogus. Lesson learned, I hope.

Would it be possible for you to post exactly what you did to disable
the "search-company.com" pop-ups so us lurkers who found your message
don't have to repeat your research?

Thanks,

Ron
