Search Bar

My Search Bar has been taken over by ShopNav Search. It has disabled the
"Customize" button as well. The only way I have been able to get rid of it
is by restoring IE via Add/Remove Programs.

I'd appreciate help getting rid of this.

Penny,

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

&

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

This will remove malware from the PC. Next, reset the Search Engine. Click
the Search button in the toolbar > Customize > AutoSearch Settings > Select
a provider from the list.
Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs > "Reset Web Settings"

Download the fix - Reset Search:

Thanks for all the information. It has been very helpful.

Now can someone give me some information on how to use Spybot. I tried it
once but (blushing) couldn't quite figure out what to do with it.

Thanks everyone!

Penny,

After running SpyBot, select "Search for Updates". Perform an online update
first and press "Check for Problems".
