Right Click and view source.

Wade G. Pemberton

I can no longer right click on a web page and view the source, even for
pages that I an certain have no inhibition on this process. (My own
website). The right click works, but when "View Source" is clicked,
Notepad no longer opens with the source in it. This item worked
until a few days ago, when it abruptly quit working.

Notepad will open normally when selected from the Programs Menu, so it
isn't the problem.

Any ideas as to why I can't "View Source", and more importantly, how to
fix it?

Try this...

Open "Start->Run", write "notepad" (without "") and click OK. Is notepad
starting?

If not, check if it is any file in "C:\" or "C:\Windows\" (or maybe
"C:\Winnt\" depending on your OS) called "notepad.exe". It could be a virus
that places itself there. Rename that file first (to maybe notepad.exe.old)
and try the "run" thing again. The correct path for "notepad.exe" should be
"C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe" for Windows XP Pro (and probably for all
other windowses too).

While you are at it:

Check Tools, Internet Options, Programs. Whatever is listed as the HTML
editor is the program that is supposed to show the source code.
