removing win2K pro from win2K/winxp dual boot

O

orit

i installed 'new installation of winXP pro' on my dell
win2K pro pc. i had assumed that a new install would
first erase the win2K o/s (which is what i wanted).
however, instead, i now have a dual boot pc w/ win2k and
winxp. both win2k and winxp are on the same partition
(c:\).i now want to remove the entire win2k pro o/s from
my pc; and therefore, also the dual boot menu. pls help !
thank you.

If they are both on the same partition then you have to delete the
partition, format, and start all over. Use fdisk to delete the partition,
create a new one, then format it. Then boot to the xp cd and follow the
instructions on the screen. The last time you did it you did not choose
format and clean install, otherwise you wouldn't have the dual boot. Follow
the instructions exactly during xp setup.

Why? I mean it's not a recommended setup by any means, but deleting the
whole Win2k directory, and then doing a 'check all paths' on boot.ini
(or just editing boot.ini manually) should sort it out just fine .. no?
