I upgraded a win2k dual boot system ( win2k on F Drive and winxp Home on
C Drive )All seemed to go ok but i am unable to access my network and
router. Network Connection shows my NIC and a 1394 connection ( on both
the winxp home partition and the winxp Pro partition ) BUT when I try to
set up the network winxp pro will only use the 1394 connection and NOT
the NIC. This means that not only can I not connect to the other
machines on the net ( peer to peer workgroup ) but I cannot access the
router and the internet. Needless to say I am using the working xp home
partition to compose this.

Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Dan

Interesting. The upgrade may have resulted in a set of NIC drivers that are
not fully compatable--or, the drivers need to be uninstalled, and
reinstalled. Another possibility is that the NIC is not WinXP compatable. I
have one Nvidia Nforce 2 MBD that has a total of three on MBD LAN ports, and
one wireless NIC. I did lock out the 1394 port for LAN use. All the other
ports are operable, and will work if a LAN cable is connected. How are you
attempting to set up the network connection?

Did you install drivers for your network card? Get them from the card
mftr.'s website.
