removing viruses

Norton scan tells me I am infected with backdoor.ranky
and gaobot.gen. But it is unable to delete them.
I used the symantect gaobot removal tool but it fails to
find gaobot on the system???

How do I get rid of these?

You might try a second virus protection package in addition to making sure that your
virus definitions are up to date as of today. Otherwise go to http://www.sarc.com/
and search for the specific virus and they may have detailed info on what to do. You
may also want to post on one of the virus newsgroups, and there are many including
Microsoft newsgroups. --- Steve
