I added a new PC to my home network, with xp pro, sp1 and networking was
fine. Then I went online (but forgot to enable firewall) to update critical
patches and then afterwards, hopefully to update Norton AV defs, but I
didn't make it. During critical patch update, I got infected with W.32
Gaobot and W.32.Spybot. Finally cleaned them out, but now folders on
infected PC can't be accessed over my network.
Infected PC can see and access other PC's but other PC's (running XP &
Me), although they can 'see' the infected PC, they can't access any of its
shared folders ("PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource...").
Everyone can ping everyone else, 'sharing' is enabled and IP addresses
all correct. System Restore isn't an option because I had to turn it off to
clean out the worms. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks - Gil Theissen
