Removing IMAP "marked for deletion" messages from POP3 account

I have a user that just switched from an IMAP account to a POP3 account. I
imported all the messages in the Inbox from the old account to the new one
and she had apparently never purged her deleted items as close to 8000
messages showed up with the subject struck through.

The problem is, now that the IMAP account isn't around any more, there isn't
a purge option and I can't seem to find a way to sort the messages so the
marked messages can be deleted as a group.

I don't want to have to tell her to manually go through and delete all of
these. Anyone have any ideas?

how long ago did you make the change? if you still have a system restore
point made before you removed the acct, restore it and purge. Then set up
the pop account and just download the messages left on the server - no need
to import the imap pst.

I'm not 100% sure how the IMAP account was set up before, but when I
connected to it yesterday it only downloaded the last 4 days of mail.

The POP account and IMAP account are on different mail servers as the user
has just switched mail providers. I know I can get access into the old
account, but I'm not sure why it only downloaded the most recent mail when I
reconnected it.
