remove fax numbers from 'select email addy' window

Whenever i try to populate the TO, CC, BCC fields in an email Outlook opens a
window of all the contacts I have. No problem there, but it offers me FAX
numbers, along with email addys. I clearly can not email to a fax number,
and offering them makes it laborious when I try to scroll thru the whole list
of names.

How do I get this pop up box to display only email addresses?

Outlook considers fax numbers to be valid electronic addresses, since there
are many client- and server-based components that can use such addresses.

One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for

When I click on the TO field for instance, I get a pop up window showing
everyone in my address book with both an email address and a fax number.
Since I am emailing I only want the email address.

The question was, is there a way to suppress the fax number from showing in
THIS situation?

In what way did I not answer your question? I posted multiple solutions.
There are no others. Trust me.
Perhaps you are confused. There is no address book in Outlook. All data
resides in your Contacts Folder and the fax numbers will remain there no
matter which method you use to prevent their display in the address book
view.

I think you are correct. Before clicking your links it seemed as if you were
suggesting something different. However, after reading those three pages, I
understand what you are saying and what they are offering.

I was hoping for a non commercial product/solution. The Rsoutlook seems to
do what you suggested doing manually, which if I understood it correctly was
add a letter before the fax number.
