Remote disconnect using Internet Connection Sharing

R

Ron Joiner

My internet gateway computer is a WinXP Pro and I have two others on my home
network (through a router), a Win98 computer and a Windows 2000 Pro
computer. I use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) with a dialup connection
and I can access the internet from all three computers.

I am able to remote disconnect from the Win98 machine through an icon on the
taskbar but cannot on the Win2000 computer. At the moment I have to climb a
set of stairs to disconnect the gateway computer every time I want to
disconnect from the internet if I am using the Win 200 Pro computer. How do
I enable remote disconnect for the Win2000 computer?

XP's Network Setup Wizard won't run on Win2000, so it isn't possible
to install Microsoft's disconnection software.

Remote Disconnect Utility can do what you want. Install it on Win2000
and WinXP Pro. Get it here:
